Allison's Bday/Bridal Party

All of "my girls" from school came to visit my place this friday for a little girly fun on our Friday Fun Club. With young's magical workings she managed to get allison at my place for some secret F-U-N...yea
It was a great day...lots of girly chatter, nursing prospective jobs, worries of the NCLEX, and daily hum-drums. Sure do love our Friday Fun Club!!

Oh boy...
So the family came to visit me in NY. It was me with 7 lots chicks maneuvering through the crowded streets of manhattan. Personal space was depleted. Speed walking apparently didn't work. But it was fun to see the family and have them remind me of the small things that I take for granted about the city. Busy week, but fun!

What is with ny men in the AM???
I feel the need to discuss certain experiences that have occurred to me over the time I have spent in New York.
#1:
Last fall while walking to the subway to clinical at 630a a man passing me in the opposite direction yelled: "SEXY" in a barking voice as I passed. I was startled and jumped a little, but quickened my pace to the subway hole. Who says that? In the morning too? strange!
#2:
While again on the way to clinical at 7am going toward brooklyn on the F train I was sitting in a subway car with approx. 10 people and one particular gentleman, let's name him Bo, was listening to music on headphones in the front of the car and I was sitting more alone in the middle while the rest of the people were towards the tail of the car. Then Bo decides he would come up and stand directly in front of me and almost straddle my legs and start freak dancing in front of me. All I could do without turning too much red in the face was glare disgustedly at him, praying that he would leave. After a moment, that felt like FOREVER, especially since he reaked of urine and other waste products, he finally moved on...and exited the subway car at the next stop. THank heavens. Boy was I ever lucky, I was then reminded of the matter as one of my fellow classmates was on the train witnessing the entire matter and then said, "that was YOU!? I felt so bad for that person" yea. so, i'm pretty much lucky?!?
#3:
Today, I was again greeted with "Damn girl you are Sexy!" as I exited the train this morning at 430a on my way to see my family arrive at the airport. I was half asleep, half out of it, and half confused. so that makes 3 halves....good math aye? So I ignored this man and his friends and scurried to make my transfer. I always figure that maybe not responding will help with not enticing the banterings more, but i dunno....any ideas of what i should do about these things? As I was scurrying down stairs I hear him yell: "You're Welcome!" Then i sort of felt bad for not saying thank you if he was paying me a compliment, but come on, It was 430a...I was not showered, not dressed in anything special, had no figure evidenced by a puffy northface coat, eyes were droopy for having had 4.5 hrs of sleep...I think it was not completely truthful. so there. another morning of weird occurrences in ny.
Flip side:
i do however think it is nice that ny men are able to express themselves in many ways, however, after having moved here and realizing that by being nice to random subway men, they have had the tendency to follow me off the subway and then further pursue. In efforts to maintain safety, I have chosen to adapt the mute, stoic faced, ny female appearance and character to not accidentally entice these happenings any more. fascinating, right?

Black is BACK!
The Met
My first encounter with artsy culture, happened this weekend. Though it was the second museum I have been to in NY, I think it was by far the most artistic...I was open to it and it was amazing! I was able to see my first Harvesting painting. Dad would have been proud. Other sites to be had, stain glass windows, interesting sculptures, and egyptian caskets. All my favorite things. :D

We are STupiD--Day 1 spring break
So today brittany and I decided to be so smart...it's our First day of spring break...so we vedged around the casa for most the day. We lolligagged on facebook, chatted, talked to people and then decided to gorge ourselves with starbursts and chocolate chip cookies. After all that...brittany decides to drag me to go run with her. After starting the run, she mentions she would do 7 miles...HOLY HECK!! WHa!?!? Being the dedicated running companion, i figured i'd knock out after 3 miles and want to go back...however, I like to push and make things more eventful. So i told brittany we should go crosstown. Man was that ever joyous, bobbing and weaving around people, cars, busses, lights, and bikers I'd say we almost made ourselves sick, oh wait, yes we did. Who would have thought running with cookies and starbursts would make for a bad run, eh? So we ventured back down the west side highway..both with ipods in. We lost eachother with less than 1 mile to go b/c we didn't pay attention to which way the other was running. we landed at our target: 2 Gold st 9.6miles later...What the heckl were we thinking? sore legs and blisters in all. So that was day one, I wonder what day two will hold.

the event

So my roommate brittany and I in an effort to maintain sociality in society decided to hit up the regional singles event for singles in the area. We met many interesting people, from connecticut, delaware, DC, baltimore, and Jersey. It was rainy and after getting lost on our way to the tippy top of manhattan, due to an error of copy and paste on hopstop.com~i take full blame, needless to say, we arrived, slightly wet, frazzled and well "oh so pretty".
We attempted the social activity, but failed. Our beds offered a little more promising excitement. Later we headed to the the banquet/dance. It was delicious, again, interesting people, and dancing!! we all know how i feel about those apple bottom jeans....don't get me started, 'cause I probably won't stop. :D alas, interesting day. *sigh*
maxxin the brenners up!

Last week I finally hung out with some super awesome chicks from church. We did C.H.O.C.O.L.A.T.E.!!! Need I say more..it was delightful and scrumptious...just the perfect dose of sugar and chatting to get me through the week. Thank you max brenners! Some pics are a little blurred due to camera technical difficulties, I blame my prior snowboarding trip and my inability to be an all-star snowboarder. HA!

The one and only
The issue.
So I've had both of these wonderful nutritious low calorie snacks (riiiight!!) and I have realized that one just doesn't hold a candle to the other. Can you guess which one sucks at having that wonderful delicious crunch and savory, mouth watering taste??
(Sorry Target, but you don't win, today)
